What Your Ceiling Stain Is Telling You
Reading timing, shape and weather to narrow a ceiling leak.
A ceiling stain is a message about where water comes from. Its timing is the first clue: staining that grows during rain points roofward; staining that follows showers or heating cycles points to plumbing or condensation.
Its shape is the second. A spreading ring with a darker edge means slow, repeated wetting. A sudden brown flood means a single event. Cracks that widen suggest movement, not just water.
Write down when it grows and what the weather was doing. That pattern is exactly what a locator needs to reproduce the entry and find the defect instead of replacing ceiling after ceiling.
